Chinese = Racists ??

Recently I've been hearing a lot about marriage/coupling thingy from uncles and aunties surrounding specifically my mom and her friends. From what they said, they will NEVER agree on marriage between different races. They think it's a disgrace for our own kind. There has been a lot of cases that Chinese marrying a non-Chinese (no matter he/she is a Malay/Bumiputra/Indian) and all of those Chinese are being looked down by their own race. Though not all but most Chinese feel that way. Especially the elderly.
So I am being advised (maybe 'warned' more accurately) not to find a boyfriend that is not a Chinese. I don't know I should laugh or cry. Laugh cos I think it's kind of funny. Cry cos I somehow disagree with their perceptions. But not 100%. I still agree on some points. Half-half perhaps? I do have a lot of friends who are mixed-race and they seem fine to me. I mean their families are still living in harmony like normal families. No fightings/divorces due to cultural differences. And most of them are very intelligent/pretty/handsome. Envy them much. So I think marriage between different races is not a bad thing after all.
But sadly most Chinese can't bear to marry a non-Chinese. Not to say we are racists. We still befriend lots of Malays/Bumiputras/Indians. It's just that Chinese care too much about one's reputation. We care a lot about how people look at us. 爱面子. I guess that's the main reason.
Anyway this topic reminds me of Peter Chao lol.
So leave me your thoughts at the comment section berrow!

I don't really mind about having different races of bf/husband cause I had Muslim aunts/uncle and Eurasian aunt as well, practically one msia family, minus the indian and bumiputera :P I think diff race is okay but diff religion will be a bit tough. Diff race babies will be extra cute and smart, not sure if it's scientifically proven :P

People from different races have different culture and believes. These things might be the challenges to these couples.
Respect is the way to cure these challenges lo... for me I think if both parties can respect each other and do not interrupt/comment each other's living style, then should not be a problem.
But still, it's not easy to maintain different races' relationship.

Due to perception of our society it will always be difficult for mix marriages but i have seen a lot of these marriages and it seems to work very well.

"I" am a living breathing hybrid! But its true what u say about Chinese "old thinkers", they wouldn't want a black to be in a part of their family due to reputation or it would be shame to em' perhaps?

tat's close-minded thinking anyway. I won't agree with the elderly ones tho. Skin color will never make anyone special. :)

p/s: haha yea wat a coincidence having the same category of topic! :P

In Norway it is a lot of mixed marriages, but most by men who find girls abroad.
Currently most Norwegian women who marry from abroad marry from Sweden, Denmark and the UK. Most Norwegian men who marry from abroad marry women firstly from Thailand, secondly from Russia and thirdly from the Philippines. The import brides have clear reasons for their marriage choice: Russian women marry Norwegian men because of the ‘Norwegianess’ – meaning that Norwegian men are more domesticated than Russian men therefore Russian women have less domestic responsibility and more ‘freedom’. South-east Asian woman marry Norwegian men because they want to up-grade their lifestyle and also use it as a means to support their family in Thailand.

i think d generations now are open dy la...Things change, it all depends on who changes it first...The elderly they mostly arranged marriage one last time so there won't have many/any chines+non-chinese marriage...And when ONE people change the culture, they start gossiping and make things like worse. And when the family of chi+non-chi are not getting along good(which also happens a lot in chi-chi family) they memperbesarkan the thing and then say not good to hav chi+non-chi family...
So, basically, it depends on what u choose and how u want ur future family to be, n later on how u take care of ur family.
I totally won't agree if I myself got to get a nice non-chi bf and because of the race we r unaccepted its ridiculous.
